Foot reflexology

Every joint, organ, part or area of our body has a specific reflex point on our feet.
By massaging and using pressure on these points ,we can facilitate healing of the corresponding areas, joints and organs.
Indications; neck pain and torticollis, painful periods, headaches, constipation, stress

Auriculotherapy
Auricular points are specific points on the auricle, ear, to which stimuli, needle, pressure or heat, are given for treatment of disease.
Although the ear is closely connected to channels and organs, specifically the six yang channels, auriculotherapy is more seen as a reflex therapy like foot reflexology where one specific point is used to influence one specific organ or area.
Indications: sciatica, headache, insomnia, gastralgia, diarrhea, sprained neck, weight loss

Moxibustion
Treats and prevents diseases by applying heat to points on certain locations of the human body. The material used is 'moxa wool' or Artemesia Vulgaris in Latin.
It has properties of warming and removing obstruction of the channels and so promoting normal function of the organs. Its heat is mild and at the same time penetrating deep beneath the skin, giving a sensation of comfort.
Indications: joint and muscle pain, painful periods, low back pain

Cupping
Treatment of health conditions by suction to the skin surface by attaching small jars in which a vacuum is created. This can be done in glass or bamboo cups by introducing heat in the form af a burning cotton ball or in plastic cups with a small hand pump.
The vacuum creates a very local increase of blood circulation which is visible as skin coloration from red, mild stagnation, to dark purple indicating severe stagnation.
Indications: Rheumatism, painful joints, sprain, facial paralysis

Tuina
Tuina refers to a whole range of Traditional Chinese Medicine therapeutic massages and bodywork. It's especially efficacious in the treatment of tendon and bone related injuries, in fact, one can hardly avoid Tuina as a treatment option when it comes to such problems, that's why at East West Healing Bali it's our go to 'warm up' for acupuncture.
Indications: muscle and joint injuries, internal injuries, general physical and mental wellbeing, strengthening of immune system.

Gua Sha
Lightly scraping of the skin using a scraping tool, in China often Jade or horn, to produce a red bruise-like appearance. The coloration indicates the level of underlying stagnation as in cupping. Gua Sha improves qi and blood circulation, releases blockages in meridians and so treating various illnesses.
Indications: Back, shoulder and general pain, fever, colds, insomnia, menstrual pain

Deep tissue massage
This is the application of slow, deep strokes or pressure to reach the deep layers of muscle tissue. The pressure can be applied by fingers, thumbs, knuckles or elbow. It increases blood circulation, rids of toxins, lactic acid build ups and stagnant blood after injury. A proper warming up of the muscles with more gentle techniques before going deep decreases the soreness after a deep tissue massage.
Indications: chronic muscle pain, sports injuries, detox, improving flexibility

Hand acupuncture
Besides the regular channels passing on the hands which include some very powerful points to affect the organs there is a system of reflex points on the hands that reflect the entire body and just as in foot-reflexology and auriculotherapy these points are used to directly stimulate their corresponding body parts. This technique can be done with needles but also lends itself to self-massage.
Indications: joint and muscle pain, gastro-intestinal problems, stress and relaxation

Lifestyle counseling
In Traditional Chinese Medicine a large part of the practitioner’s role is to talk about how you got where you are. Shining light on the process of how a person gets ill can help them get out of it.
We can help with stress related problems, depression, designing personalised exercise programs

Yamuna Body Rolling
Is a form of self massage but also a workout. By rolling on a ball you work your body in a way a therapist would do but now you’re doing it yourself, you massage and stretch but also strengthen your core. You stimulate bone by sitting on the ball, you lengthen and stretch muscles by rolling from origin to insertion, you loosen up joints by stretching ligaments. All of this results in a better posture, increased range of motion, greater flexibility and stronger muscle tone.

Common sense therapy
While there are other therapies and diplomas to talk about, sometimes a person just needs to hear plain common sense.
It is one of the most effective therapies we know of.
